Dear Friend,

I have this character that I want to describe for you.
Character: Al Sharpton p.113
Setting: During this monologue I want the sound affects of rain on the outside.I want the reverend sitting in a chair, diagonally placed from a window you can see the rain through. A bucket next to him.
Attire: Business casual. Maybe black slacks and black church shoes, but not your typical business shirt. I want the pinky ring that he wore previously in the play on and a gold chain. I want his hair slicked back.
Personality: I want a stern personality. This is a serious matter. So no lack-lestered performance. I want the character to feel as if the fight was for his son.

Gesturing/ Behavior: It's imperative that the Reverend talks with his hand. Not to frequently but ever so often.Cracking his knuckles would also be great. Every italicized word must built up to. This is emotional in a sense. If he is asking a question like " If I" i want him to point to himself. As time go on (mid-way through) I want him to make his way to the window. At the end when he is giving the last six lines I want him to make way to " center stage" (which should be directly in front of the window. One he gives the final word "rain" I want the rain to stop and him to walk back to his chair.

This guy, is like the man that fights for you when you can't even fight for you. He finds the words when the community can't even speak. He's kind of being attacked in the media, but that doesn't make him falter.
